Vive La France!

I think that is an example of what some here like to a call a straw man.

Can I have the 15mm spanner, sure here you go. There is no approval in that process. It's a request and an action.
It's more like you asking for the keys to the car.

Have you got a licence, and insurance? I check it, and somebody else checks it. Only then can you have the keys.

It's been approved and authorised. Once we all sign the release form of course

But you specifically say

You are explicity saying that, in reaching their opinion as to whether the abortion meets the criteria, they are authorising the abortion.

Why not quote the whole paragraph, it's fairly obvious I am talking about a medical authorisation... which is nothing to do with the legal exemption. As I've said doctors are required to authorise all sorts of things relating to treatments, drugs, procedures etc..

Make it as big as you like - You don't understand it. The doctors are required to authorise it because they have to assess if the abortion is likely to cause more harm than going term. That is not an approval to abort based on their beliefs, it is simply an assessment on the safety of the procedure. It is no different to them refusing to operate on a fatty because the anaesthetic will likely kill them.

The above has absolutely nothing to do with abortion law. If the woman has a medical condition, they wont be wanting to do something that could kill her or cause worse problems.

It would be the same if the offences against the person act did not make abortion illegal.

Thats a great example because such a failure is a criminal offence.

Unlike the abortion act

which has no such requirement

No.

If you asked to borrow my car, it is not up to me to ensure you are legally authorised.

But i wouldn't let you borrow it if i wasn't sure you were insured and licensed. And had to sign a statement agreeing we (3 of us) had checked it. Approved it

I literally just posted the law - telling you it is.

Did you even read it.?

No one is arguing the legalities.

What people are saying is that the abortion can not proceed unless it is signed off by two doctors. Once it has been signed off - then it is approved or authorised. You said so yourself.

No - I said doctors are required to approve many aspects of treatment and the process of forming an opinion in the case of abortion is neither authorisation nor approval. It's just a statement of opinion. simple

So the procedure can go ahead if they don't agree the criteria are met? They don't sign it. It's not authorised. Not approved.

I've told you, I'd check.

No licence, no insurance and I don't approve. You dont get the keys.
