Wall fitting; plasterboard & brick/thermalite

Hi all

Our new build walls are all plasterboard front, any exterior facing walls have a very small gap between that and the thermalite brick.

Can anyone recommend a fitting to use in this case? This would be for TV mounting, book shelves and other heavy load bearing things.

Standard wall plugs, drilled a bit more carefully (no hammer action) than if you were blasting through harder masonary.
 
Could you be a bit more specific? Do they need drilling in past the plasterboard and into the brick so needing a longer screw?
 
Yes, same method as fixing into any other kind of masonary behind a dot and dabbed board, just go easy and slow with the drill
 
Rigifix or corefix are designed exactly for this scenario. They're both pretty large though, which isn't always ideal.

In the past however, I have just used two red plugs pushed into the same hole with a number 10 screw, 2½ inches long to mount some very heavy items. The first plug holds the weight, the second plug is just really to keep the screw centred at the face of the wall. It would sag otherwise and makes it hard to get things level.
 
Use the long fixings - "Frame Anchors", which are used for fitting window and door frames.

Yes , through fixings, that's what I use on the plasterboard on dabs on blockwork walls in my house ( bit of practical experience there :D )
