Just starting bit of work to open out a kitchen. Removing a wall that seemed butted up to the original back wall of the house. About halfway down or just over it starts to tie into the back wall. Any ideas what's going on here?
The wall sits out 440mm from the wall, 300 wide (cavity).
Don't know original plans of house but the wall is pebbledashed inside the cavity, and back part of house was a new extension.
Only thing I can think is when building a new wall would they have knocked out part of the old lower wall to tie it in up to a point and then not bothered to take it right to the top?
Got bit concerned about it being structural when I saw this but wall is supporting nothing above, isn't even tied into the wall for third of the height and is 300 wide.
Any advice would be appreciated!
