Wasps showing an interest in my shed…

…any helpful suggestions of anything that is rated with good reviews that I could apply to and around the shed to keep the buggers away?

I have used both in my sheds and in compost heaps where wasps were building nests.

At this time of year it is the queen trying to start a nest, easier to zap while it is a nest of 1!

Why?
Are they particularly causing you harm?

They are good for your garden, they eat the aphids and promote pollination (more than bees) so you could just leave them alone.

Having been stung in the past provoking them only by eating an ice lolly in their vicinity, albeit in my garden where they don’t pay rent, if you want to be inside your shed with the bar stewards feel free - I’d rather give them a wider berth

If they are in the compost heap it is most likely german wasps, they are usually less aggressive. Had a large german wasp nest in the ground under some shrubs, could walk by about 2 feet away and they would ignore you, but then again we had an enormous underground nest close to a path, and they would swarm at you when walking past, so that nest did have to go.

German wasps??
How can you tell?
Do they fly in formation? Is it the swastika on their tail that gives 'em away?

I've had to deal with several nests around the house and garden over the years and anything that says 'wasp killer' on the can usually works.
Last one i had was in the roof of a shed, where i could see them coming out/going in a crack under a tile.
Sprayed over it til all was a foamy pool of pure death.
Then got the hell out of there and stayed safely indoors while they buzzed about looking for a way in. Any of 'em caught in the foam were doomed. The whole area soon became a cloud of wasps. Bloody scary.

15 minutes later all was calm and wasps were dead or gone.

Vespula Germanica is the only wasp that makes its nest in the ground.
Had a large wasp nest using a cavity in the ceiling, that was much too scary to deal with myself, the nest turned out to be about 2 cubic feet.
Another time came back late from holiday to discover wasps had broken through round the edge of the window, dealt with about 2 pints of bodies before I lost my nerve. they were in a large sheet between the window and curtains, had to sleep in the living room that night, and called the professionals asap in the morning.
