Hi all,

I'm currently in the middle of building an office in my garden.
It's been pretty slow progress due to having 2 small kids, and having a tough time with my mental health.

Due to Covid, the roofing sheets I ordered at the end of October still haven't arrived. I've constructed the roof using a membrane, PIR insulation and then OSB, but this has been left uncovered for about 6 weeks and with all the rain we have had, the insulation looks as though it's absorbed a lot of water and water has also found its way inside.
Looks as though it's trickling back over the edge and back under the cladding.

Do I cover the roof with a tarp and carry on, drying out at the end with a heater and dehumidifier?
Or is this going to cause lots of problems in the future?

Cheers

Hutcheg, good evening.

The tarp would be a good call, given we are only just entering the really wet season.

As for the insulation becoming saturated to the point is may be unusable? suggest you check with the maker and see what sort of absorption of the material, most PIR does not absorb a lot of moisture.

Ken.

Go to a specialist tarp supplier the ones you get for cheap are useless and will go to holes quickly. I tarped my garage floor and the good stuff will keep the water out, fix with battens if you can.

Also, I had to add a timber in the middle to give the roof a new pitch as it was just timbers and no boarding at that point.

Hope this helps.
