is there a weatherproof alarm contact available out there, or sould i just use a normal contact, for an outside gate that is attached to my garage wall, in which is the main panel........ im thinking of running an alarm contact on the opening gate. and just thought there maybe a special contact available. or as i said im just going to use a standard surface door contact and a bit of sealant!. OR actually is there a remote contact available to use within a hard wired system.........ie a reciever connected to the panel and a transmitter at the contact

nope, not available becuse you are not meant to do that.

if any one opens the gate, yes the alarm goes off, but what if the gate is not secure?

If you must do it, use a roller shutter contact and a weatherproof junction box (electrical wholesalers)

Agreed any door that is contacted should be locked. Weatherproof contacts are available and as above a shutter contact is weatherproof but would require a waterproof junction box.

But there are also sealed contacts like this

you can get selaed contacts in plastic cases but the tolerance is much smaller and id suggest a gate has a bit of movement in it when locked

yes this is for a locked gate that leads to the back of the property, As its fixed to the garage wall i may even drill right through the frame into the garage and put an "invisible" contact in there. so that nothing can be seen, obviousley if the hinged side of the gate opnes wide enough......................thanks for the advice chaps, much appreciated!!!!
