Hi all,
I'm a diy person. I fitted a Texecom Premier in my house ten years ago and it worked fine. Recently during the process of setting up a new tag it went wrong and after professional advice I bought a new Premier Elite panel, which after quite a struggle (old age, stupidity and difficulty remembering what I'd done last time) I have managed to commission it. Walk test and bell test are OK and it works OK except I get the greeting "Welcome home Barry" when I activate the alarm on leaving and "Area fully armed" "Entry to area A" or words to that effect, which the old panel didn't display, when I re-enter the house.
I'd welcome any advice to correct things.

At a guess you had an old premier 24 that had different firmware to the rest of the panels and only had a single area hence the difference

Sorry for the delay Sparkymarka, both have plastic covers (does that affect the way they work?) and both are 24s.
I'm sure the firmware is different but it seems odd that Texecom would program them to produce the differences I'm seeing in view of the potential of one replacing the other when there is a failure. I understand that old keypads work with Elite panels so do you think they all do this?

It isn’t uncommon for manufacturers to have differences across ranges.

the old Premier 24 was different as it didn’t have areas, as premier 816/832 are vastly different to programming which were mainly export panels but some in the UK of the earlier versions.

at least the Elite range has simplified things , but some functions being lost from the premier 24 to the elite 24
