Well trump

Apparently even if trump is jailed he can still run for president ???

Which could lead ?? To trump being sworn in as president whilst in a jail cell ???

There after he would pardon himself
And walk out ???

Is that how it could work in theory ?
Yes

And then witch hunt starts. Not forgetting Pence, Barr and few of his party folk to start with not forgetting others have taken him to court. Will not stop there.

The whole 'pardon himself' thing is a proper speculation. First, if he's jailed under state laws (NY and possibly Georgia), the President has no right of pardon- only the state governor can do that. Good luck with that. A President pardonning himself- no precedent, it would have to go all the way to the Supreme Court. Could take years. There'd be no, "Im pardoned, I'm off, bye."

No, but I don't think that would stop him. He did all sorts of things that no president did before him.

He would relish the challenge if he gets the chance.

And now Trump and 18 others have been charged with attempting to overturn the election results in Georgia.

This is different to previous charges for a range of reasons.

It's a state case, which means a President cannot pardon anyone convicted as part of it.
It's a RICO case and that has a 5 year minimum for pretty much any of the charges.
It's televised.
Georgia has very strict rules about witness tampering and a bias to not allow bail.
18 other defendents.

Great news.
I genuinely felt early on that it would be a bad thing to try and maybe jail an ex president; and that reaching a consensus would be better.
Not any more- the man is a nasty, fairly thick, entitled, lying 2@, and I hope gets years.
Silver lining will be if Georgia jails him- nobody but the Georgia governor can pardon him then, even if the White House goes red.

Worst thing to happen to the US since the Civil War. Human garbage.
