Next door (semi) have some major, and very noisy works taking place as in walls being demolished, plaster removed chimneys taken down, none of which we were advised to expect. What are the rules on noise, working time, weekend working please?
If they obtained planning permission, I think it sometimes sets out the hours of work permitted.
Google for your local Council's guidance on construction work and noise?
Typically 0800-1800 Mon-Fri and 0800-1300 Sat is allowed. None on Sundays or Bank Holidays.
Best practice is for Contractors to warn neighbours 48 hours before noisy works.
DIY works is possibly different.
Silver linings and all that eh.No warnings, they just turned up and began rattling the walls. Nothing about rules and times on the council site, that I have found so far, but at least the builders came round to apologise for the noise to Avril, for her rude awakening this morning. She was hoping for a lay in - She's busy now making a cake, when she has a minute, I'll ask her what they said.
If the chimney adjoins your wall or they are excavating near it they should have a Party Wall Agreement in place and they can be asked to stop if not .

That is very rude of your neighbours.
I would’ve warned my neighbours a few weeks in advance an offered to have them around to talk through the work.
Of course if you're contracting to another party as I also do, it's not so easy.
