What are you drinking tonight?

Mrs Mottie didn't fancy any wine tonight so I opened one of my complimentary mini bottles that I brought home from our hotel a few weeks ago. Not great! 6/10 but it was free.

Beefsteak Sauvignon Blanc tonight with our, err, sea bass stir fry. Six quid from Sainsbury's. Not bad, 7/10. Even Suze wondered what all the fuss was about!

Yeah that was nothing to do with the Laphroaig. It was the gallons of stuff he'd drunk prior.

Could be right. The whisky was poss the straw that broke the camel's back. He's a great bloke for a Romanian, loves British pub culture - maybe a bit too much. Typical hard drinking EE, works hard and plays hard. Comes from Transylvania.

He drank it, but went outside and was sick on the bonnet of the landlord's car.
I once had a customers car, an XR3i, in Mercury grey that looked like it had had paint stripper thrown over the bonnet. They told me that they came out of a party once to find that someone had been sick on their bonnet. They washed it off the next morning but it had literally stripped the lacquer off of the paint!

Don't doubt it. Gastric juices are quite acidic. The Laphroig would poss make it double strength.

Bit like bird droppings, if left they often damage car paintwork.

Wadworths 6X was one of my fave beers in the 80s and 90s, along with Fuller's London Pride and Flowers IPA.

Also in my top 5 were Sam Smith's (several were very good) Nut Brown, and Marston's Pedigree.

I rates several Thwaites beers highly too.

Never liked Wadsworth beers. Used to call 6X - 6 eggs because it had a strange eggy, sulphorous aftertaste to me. Henrys IPA was a little better but nothing to write home about. London Pride is excellent if you can find someone that keeps it well, many don't. Only place that is reliable for LP is a Fullers owned pub not far away, but about fiver a pint - too much for me. Not seen Flowers for years. Marstons Pedigree is a good beer.. Only time I had Thwaites was on a visit to Barnsley long time ago.

I'm spoilt for choice in my local. They do draught Bass, Doom Bar, Sharps Atlantic, Butty Bach, Courage Best and Butcome. Butcombe is only one I won't touch.

Just Sainsbury's house white. £4.50 I found it dry, crisp and delicate with citrus, melon and fruit flavours.
