There is an important & very historic battle field where the local council has invested £millions in car parking, visitor center, toilets, ice cream machines & lovely little pamphlets that say nothing much at all.

We told them years ago that they were wrong & they told us to go and do one.

If his army is stood here, & his army is stood over there, then that is within the range of both sides archers. They didn't stand here on this spot while arrows rained down upon them now did they? The topography of your battlefield might fit the historical narrative but it does not fit the real world of the known capabilities of the archer.

We were right. The car parking, the visitor center, the toilets & the ice cream machines are still in the same place, but they now acknowledge that the actual battle took place on some other field 30mls away.

There’s a longbow shop near me in Birkenhead…I didn’t realise there was still demand for such things, but it’s been there a while!

I've just watched the Sewing Bee. I quite enjoy that. I'd like to have a go at the decorative stitching used in car restos.
If you want to know how to do a faggot stitch for your quilt, I can help with that ;). Anyone got a 5 thread overlocker?

For once a programme focusing on the skills of the crafts rather than the diversity and lifestyles f the participants. I actually felt I learnt a few things about wood carving from last nights episode - looking forward to the rest of the series.
 
Watching the Monaco Grand Prix. Still waiting for it to start. Absolutely pyssing down over there. Only GP I’ve ever been to. Went in 2019, we had beautiful weather which was just as well as we weren’t under any cover. Would have put a real downer on it if the weather had been like it is today.

If an opposing armies didn’t come within range of each other’s archers, what was the point of archers?
