What do you do with a drunken worktop...

I've just noticed that my two sections of laminated kitchen worktop that are to be joined at 90 degres are each bowed (probably about 10mm per 6ft.) I've cut the mitre so I can't send it back. Any strategies for making the best of this? Bearing in mind the wortop's 40mm thick and the wickes units are 18mm, it looks obvious who's going to win if I try and screw the worktop down; not to mention the joint coming apart.

You'd be surprised, they'll pull home. Assuming your screws have at least 3/4" thread going into the worktop, they'll be fine.

BTW. did you get that wall plate sorted?
 
Actually, I've mis-measured, it's more like 3.75mm over 6ft.

as said above dave i would not worry

the distortion is due to not being stored propperly
[the weight forcing a bow in the length]
the same weight will even it out when in situe
try clamping in situe and see how the joints lie
in relation to each other if ok fix if not tinker with them

3.75 over 6ft., not even worth worrying about, I've had them far worse than that.

As Big All says they do sort themselves out.
