What does a naval blockade cost?

Weird that some think that the USA were actually defeated militarily

Dummy’s imo ??
In terms of the war in Vietnam they were defeated politically by the ongoing series of battles fought by troops across the country. 'Hamburger Hill' is a good example of this after marines fought over the damn hill for several days then promptly withdrew as it became strategically necessary.
NVA troops fought many guerilla battles that were successful in pushing Marines back into their bases but it was the protests back home that really beat them in the end.

Problems back home is the relevant part of yer post

Water gate / Nixon resignation being one of them

See the brexxers denying usa lost the vietnamn war is amusing, maybe the equally humiliating retreat from afghanistan will be spun as a victory in 50 years.

Don’t quite see what brexit has to do with Vietnam tbh ??

You use the word retreat ?? In dire ear a Stan ?

Not military defeat ? Why is that ?

If you think the ability to hold ground taken from the enemy isn't relevant in war, then i've no idea what is...

Nixon resigned after it was discovered he lied to Congress about the break-in at the Watergate Hotel. So it was more about American politics than the war in Vietnam.

Back to the op, this article is interesting, i get that we dont want to expose our flagship aircraft carriers to unnecessary danger but the vast cost of the carriers was spun on us being a sea going naval nation with the ability to be mor3 effective by moving closer to the action.

No doubt when the Israelis with draw / retreat / pull out of Gaza

The usual suspects in here will call it a military defeat :ROFLMAO: By Hamas over Isreal ??

Israel is not pulling out of Gaza, Bibi wants it all he's hungry.

What is your final solution for the Palestinians?

Do they need to be there?

I remember the panic as the last us and europeans were helicoptered out of the country.

Do they need to be there?
That was the justification for their construction iirc (against precisely the point that long distance flights would cover many situations). It would demonstrate we were not going to be walked over, but it seems rishi doesn't have the stomach for a war, which is probably good as things stand.
