What have you bought today?

Started weeding the plot where I planted spuds at start of lockdown, soon got fed up crawling about with a trowel so ordered one of this gadgets that pull weeds up while standing up from Amazon, if i tot up the money I have spent on these spuds I might as well have had them flown in from Harrods

Lol. You gotta keep on top of the weeding. I had that problem last year but this year I gave myself a bit more room between plants. What I’ve seen over the allotment though is people laying down the black weed control membrane, cutting a small cross and planting their spuds in them. No weeding at all. Might try that myself next year.

Today I’ve ordered myself a cordless screwdriver and a set of bits. Going to change all the ply panels on my yard gates and I get fed up swapping drill bits and screwdriver bits on my cordless drill. Ordered the body only as I have two chargers and four batteries already - two 4.0Ah and two 2.0Ah.

Another vintage mobile for my collection that I keep in the loft out of sight of my wife. Been after one of these for a couple of years - they don’t come up often, especially in this condition especially boxed with spare batteries, charger and paperwork. I’m very happy, Mrs Mottie will just shake her head in despair if she ever sees it.

Anyone else on here collect things or have hobbies that their other halves have absolutely zero interest in?

My brother collects guns. Mad keen on guns and has quite a collection up in the loft/secured.
Told me the other day, "if I go before my wife, please don't let her sell them for what she thinks I paid for them"
Did make me laugh :-)

I don't collect anything really, the other half collects vinyl which is fine but he keeps everything which I deem as rubbish for 'just in case it's useful'. Drives me nuts.

Lol. I always say "If I go first and my wife sells my stuff for what I told her I paid for them, somebody out there is going to get a bargain"!

Anyway, my cordless, brushless, impact screwdriver arrived this morning. I’ve had a play with it, screwed a few screws in some old wood I had in the garage and packed it away for the day I actually need to use it.

I would like to collect auto biographies, old books or old telescopes, scientific instruments etc but my wife would never have it,and we do not have the room.Enjoy so much seeing old technology, whether it is Watt engines, old phones, computers etc.

or old telescopes
My wife bought me one as a surprise Christmas present a few years ago. It was supposed to be a 'table top' version but it was nearly as big as me! I looked at the surface of the moon a few times (very interesting as it happens) and then put it at the back of the garage. How many times can you look at the moon?

Yeah, that's the problem we have - no room. Our house is already dominated by my other half's stuff- vinyl, a few hundred music bio's (which never get read again), dvd's etc. We have a loft jammed full of his stuff too and every DIY tool available I think plus all the keep in case stuff..

I guess the difference is he's moved 3 times in his life and is a natural hoarder, sorry, 'collector'. I've moved over 20. I soon got tired of moving everything I own so a lot of it just got chucked/charity.

Lol...
I always had a telescope and microscope as a kid...Spent hours looking at stuff...Discovered i could then burn out the people on school photos i was not keen on...!!...great fun at 11......Then the chemistry set arrived...Loved spirograph....never could make my meccano helicopter fly though!!

I've still got a telescope but usage spoilt due to changes in the local street lights. I keep it in the hope that we move. Unlikely now. ;) Microscope too but more big boy now. They get used now and again.

As the weather has been nice did some target shooting in the back garden.I do from time to time. I have a couple of air rifle type things but the spring powered one should have gone back when I bought it about 15 years ago so replaced it yesterday.

BSA Meteor. :( People who sold it me didn't check it fitted into the gun slip I bought to go with it. So need to phone. Tele sight wont focus to suite my eyes either but can't blame them for that.

I can beat the lot of you for what was bought today!

6 rolls of wallpaper for the dressing room. :-(

When I decorated our hall, stairs and landing last year, I asked my neighbour how many rolls of paper he bought when he did his as he has the same house as mine. He told me he bought 12 rolls so I bought the same. When I’d finished, I had 4 rolls left over. When I told him that, he said "That funny, so did I"!

That's as old as me that joke.
