Provided you can find plenty of mugs, it is easy to make money as a tipster

One of the tricks is to tell the marks they only need pay you if they win.

If you don't know, I can explain.

The way I think this works is that. Hundreds of thousands texts and emails can be sent.

They send out the message that if your horse wins then you pay.

So 10 horses in a race. Each of these horses are said to win the race and equally devided and sent to a 1000000 people.

100000 betting people will win. If that 100000 take the bait they put another bet on. The same goes as above 10000 people win they then pay up and put another bet on. And so 1000 on and 100 until they eventually loose and realise its a con. Some won't and will bet again as they think they were tipped 3 or so winners

Yes. You used to have to go to a race meeting and approach punters in person.

You would then approach the winners as they collected their winnings.

So not such a large volume of mugs.

To remember which you had told what, you would group them by colour or style of something they were wearing.

Stock exchange and racing tipsters also used to run postal schemes before the Internet made trickery so easy.
