This is a commercial property I’m planning to take on. It`d look much nicer if it was gone! I do wonder if it is an anti-condensation thing, as it’s a single glazed shopfront.

My guess is that it is anti glare film to stop the sun fading objects in the shop window .
Even just the bit around the edge? In any case, that means it should be fine to pull off, I guess.
Possibly the glass is not tempered and for h&s reasons they retrofitted that plastic film to avoid shards of glass injuring someone in case of breakage.
Just a commercial window dressing film to frame the shop window, should peel straight off.
Ah, so I want to be sure it’d safe to remove! Would it be weird, though, that it’s just around the edge?
I was hoping this might be the case! It looks a bit crappy in my opinion, but then it is a bit old.
