I don't really have a hobby as such but what I am planning to do is buy an old car Porsche 924 or 968 and convert it to all electric.

Has anyone planned or tried something like that?

Not in to cars, to me they are a means of getting from A to B
My interests are factual history of the second world war and woodwork. Have recently bought a small lathe and am hoping to be able to learn how to wood turn.

Will be very expensive, a 924 is and Audi engined car BTW.

I am planning to buy an old wreck and rip everything out, get the bodywork fixed and then go from there.

Just to add I would need to learn everything about electric batteries, motors etc - I would be fine programming it all though.

I think its quite a cool project to do (y)

I think it would be cool too. I’ve been into cars previously but not now.

I still have a Mk2 Golf with a 3.2l V6 engine in it that needs finishing off. I took that back to the metal and built it back up from a shell.

I remember seeing a VW Polo that had been converted to electric.

Isnt that the definition of all hobbies?

Of course, and it's your time and your money, no harm in that.... but I feel it will be a lot more money, hassle and time than you think. But I would suggest doing plenty of research first, as it will be £'000's

This guy in America is doing well out of it, he has an order book of 3 years

Now this type of hobby / project has me intrigued.

Sounds like it could be very expensive mind you, but good luck with it!
