...that the motor trade use to stick over broken vehicle windows to keep the weather out?

I can't find it anywhere!
It helps if you know its name and I don't, but I've tried searching using all sorts of names and nothing, nada, zilch...

Seen it used for a temporary "repair" of a glass door. Not so sure it would be suitable for a car windscreen which may be a structural part of the vehicle.
SS didn't specify the windscreen.
I suspect clear vision might also be a problem.

Windscreens can account for up to 30% of the structural integrity of a car, yet research from Autoglass shows drivers are largely unaware of the safety risks posed by compromised windscreens.

Surely it'd be easier (and cheaper, factoring in the pizz-arrising about you'll inevitably do ;-)) to just get it fixed?

Watching Salvage Rebuilds UK on youtube, they often mention something called "crash wrap" . Not sure if it is just a colloquial name or a trade name.Just googled it,
This what you're after?

Thanks.

Thought it might be available in smaller quantities. I may use Mottie's solution. Was going to do it today, but it hasnt stopped piddling down...

The instructions say "Adheres to interior surfaces and fabric."

Then it says "for exterior use only"!

Gaffer tape sometimes leaves a residue which might take meths, thinners or something to shift.

Hoping to stick the tape to the glass. The bits that are not smashed. If I'm lucky!

I remember on many a job, having hoovered round after pulling up the dust sheets, the lady of the house would complain that those bits I'd hoovered were cleaner than the rest.

Then she would demand I hoover the rest. Cheeky beggar!
