The point, AIUI, is the nobody must ever receive any criticism for not paying attention, no matter how egregious their failing, and they must never be taught the value of paying attention by being asked to repeat something when they have done it incorrectly.

And this is despite the fact that such a practice has been successfully employed in teaching people for thousands of years.
