whattsapp on my computer but cant log in

whattsapp has been working fine on my lap top with my mobile out off action for weeks now
today when i tried to login on the lap top it displays a QR code that i cannot off course read ??
is there a way to log in without getting the need to read a code ??

Whatsapp desktop requires the phone to be connected. It can't be used as a standalone app without a phone.
The only way to pair is by using the phone app to scan the QR code.

just to further add i have been using whatsapp daily on the laptop even with the phone not working[ wouldnt start up]for perhaps 3 weeks

I think there's a workaround if you Google it but I have no idea if it works.

yes on blue something or other

but prefer an answer where there is no downloading unless a reliable source suggests it like here

It’s an android emulator ( I use on my Mac) allows install of many programs that run on android system.
I use for Zini tevi as it runs better than on iOS .

ok thanks have a micro sim a 2-3 year old phone coming from my son and my neice to hand my phone too and say sort this please
