I need to repair some chapel windows around a property I purchased earlier this year. I could do with some advice on

1) what wood should I use to repair any rotten window sections? Would standard B&Q softwood be ok here?

2) What should I use to replace the gap between the window and the wall as seen in the picture? Is it putty, mortar...? I'm not sure

Patching timber window frames is a bodge at the best of times and always short lived.....yours appear to be softwood so you repair with the same.
Rake out the old mortar between frame and wall and replace it with a stiff sand/ cement mix, pushing it well in.
John :)

Thanks, the mortar needs doing on all windows. The one that needs a bodge is only to get through the winter so this is helpful. Thank you!
