I have had to re-install W7 and could import my messages from a backup but not contacts. I have an Excel spreadsheet of my contacts but cannot find any means of importing this into Windows Live mail. Any help would be appreciated. [/quote]

If you've got a spreadsheet then in excel save this as type .CSV
In windows live mail open contacts (click the address book icon in the bottom left corner of Windows Live Mail's main window)
Click show menu button, then click import and select .CSV, thens elect your csv file. You may need to tell it which column is for what field in mapping
