The brother in law some how managed to crack a door spindle by twisting it too hard!

I took the spindle to my local hardware "has everything" store but they didn't have a similar one.

It's tapered in two places, the middle is thicker and the ends are thicker, but the taper is at its most at the 1/3rds. It's almost "winged".

You can see the crack on the right of the picture.

Anyone know where I can get one of these?

Might be worth trying a local garage or body repair shop to see if it can be welded.

Depends how good the welder is:whistle:
Don't see why not though, not massive forces involved, only hand pressure, hardly car chassis or shipbuilding stress;)

Ye gods Dave, whatever you're paid, it ain't enough ......I'd be reaching for the brazing torch for that one!
John :)

Just luck, because I'd never seen one like that I thought I'd have a quick look.
I had some tins with bits and pieces of handles and so on which came from my late father in law, he'd worked on all sorts of houses, but there was nothing like that as far as I remember.
Hope it sorts you out, otherwise as already said weld or braze. :-)

I ordered three...
That's a guarantee that you'll never break another! :-)
Mind you, if you're anything like me, you'll put them "somewhere safe". . .

Which brings me, rather obliquely to something I have done for some time now. Any spare parts like that I have, I put them somewhere safe, and then make a note of where they are in a text file on the computer. I've got a shortcut to the file from the start menu called predictably "Somewhere safe".
Sort of organisation for my disorganisation! :-)

Yeah, someone else suggested that offline. I don't have that equipment unfortunately.

The spindles arrived today, they fit perfectly!
