Whirlpool Tumble - is this normal on the back of the tumble ?

Hi

I’m looking for advice and guidance please on my Whirlpool condensing tumble dryer. I’ve pulled it out today as it’s been moved in my garage and found that the felt on the back has came apart?

Does this need repaired, is this normal and is there a risk of operating the tumble with the back cover felt like this ?

Probably just to smother any noise, if it doesn't bother you (in the garage) it won't need replacing.

Looks to me like it's either been scorched or chewed by vermin. Either way I would get it checked by a professional. See if your machine is subject to a safety recall https://safety.hotpoint.eu/dryercheck
