I have looked online for an answer but cannot get an answer as various websites claim diferent manufacturers make the best paint.

I need to repaint my indoor walls. I will be painting them magnolia. Who makes the best paint?

Also how long should I wait before applying a second coat?

Don't think there's a definitive answer, opinions will always vary, can't really go wrong with the big/popular brands though. Personally I go for Leyland Trade for emulsion and Dulux trade Satinwood for the timberwork. Recoat emulsion after a couple of hours, timberwork the next day if necessary.

I normally use Dulux diamond Matt for high traffic area. Recently I've tried little green paint a few times and really like it

My 'after an escape of water' pro decorator preferred Dulux Trade Matt but was happily surprised at how good the Dulux Diamond Matt was that he needed to use to match up what was already in the hall and stairs. (Dulux do have a trade hard-wearing equivalent, I believe).

The better trade stuff has greater opacity so covers better and faster (fewer coats).

Personally I'd avoid Magnolia as a colour. There are some much nicer neutral light colours out there, probably at no extra cost, in Trade formulations. (Same decorator liked my wife's choice of Dulux Jasmine White for the Living Room).

I had some recent successes with Johnstons paints when doing external woodwork. Can get from most stores. Thick, non drip, and barely needed two coats. Wicks own brand paint seems to be like water and thus I returned it.

There is no definitive "best" paint.

As a decorator, I normally recommend Dulux Trade for emulsions, partially because I know how they flow/cover. When painting over new lining paper, I am happy to use the likes of Leyland Trade- it is cheaper than the Dulux Trade. I don't want to be in a situation where the customer has saved a few quid on cheap paint. Labour costs are far higher than the costs of materials.

I did some work for a mate recently. He purchased Crown (not Crown Trade) white emulsion- He paid about £15 for 10L. I told him to bin it. I had used it previously. 5 coats over white emulsion would not cover slight scuff marks.
