...and they appear to have fundamentally rethought the compressor in a way which will save a massive amount of energy (electricity). Have a look at this video:

big high speed compressors can be very noisy machines
 
At one time I used to.have a 40cfm (?) Ingersoll-Rand 2-cylinder reciprocating compressor at the back of our shop. It could get pretty hot when we were working it hard
 
It was a type of compressor that started the Grenfell disaster!
With pneumatic compressors I'm a lot more concerned about the receiver failing, or more likely an air pipe rupturing - although TBH most of the faults I've ever had with them were just mundane minor air leaks and stuck connector valves
