Why are there so many holes in RSJ?

I thought that RSJs came with pre-drilled holes, but on our RSJ there appear to be 8 holes drilled instead of the 4 expected.

Is this right? And should there be any documents/notes/calculations to back it up?

Looks like it was drilled incorrectly. Nothing to worry about.

I find it hard to not worry about this as it appears to me that they have already made at least one mistake in measuring for the beams. The RSJ with the holes in it is already not centered on the padstones, and not inline with the wall it is supposed to be supporting above!

Who drilled the extra holes? RSJ supplier or builder? Should there be engineering documentation/calculation to back it up?

I do not wish to seem ungrateful for your comment, because I am very much grateful (y) But this builder has messed up so many things that I question everything now

Not sure who drilled or why? Are they just off centre and the builder put the beam in wrong way around? Or maybe the Fabricator could have drilled them wrong?

Why don't you ask the builder?
I'll ask him when we next meet. But there has been a breakdown of trust and I value and trust the opinions of members of this forum more than his. He has told me all of the below issues are nothing to worry about.
So ... anything I can learn from you about holes in RSJs helps me in my discussions with him.

i would say you could have about 20 or 30 holes per metre in the web as long as the space between the holes is about double the hole size and you might loose a few percent off the strength maybe 5-10% well within the calculations
