We have a local small co-op and its spaces don't have the double space lines, however the spaces are maybe a couple of feet wider than a standard space. Makes all the difference. However most business don't want to do this as they want to cram as many spaces in as possible. which yes you can understand before anyone says it!

Which then drives customers, to occupy the disabled and 'with child' wider spaces.

I drove past said co-op earlier and realised I'd slightly exaggerated, however the spaces are easily a foot wider than a more standard one, perhaps a 'bit' more, which makes all the difference.

A retail park with 1000 spaces would be better (although not for revenue/profit) if it was 800 spaces of a larger size.

Cars are so big now. If you see what is considered a small hatch back nextbto a cortina or a Granada it doesn't seem that small at all.

We have a new, large shared car park, between Lidl, Home Bargains, a vet, Greggs, and some smaller outlets. It was easy to find a space when it first opened, but now the only time it's easy, is during off peak. The easy parking, seems to have encouraged many more to drive there. It's just a walk away, for us, so we walk.

Yep, and I drive one of the biggest. It's great on the open road, but terrible at close quarters - it's not easy, to get in and out, when parked in a tight, standard width parking spot.
