my laptop is suitable fpr upgrade to Win 11:

Is there any particular reason why I should or should not?

Only use it for basic stuff - Emails, Spreadsheets, Googling and a few forums like this. No "proper" gaming or much streaming - mainly 5 Little Ducks ;)
 
If it ain't broke don't fix it. ;-) I recall moving to Win10 6 months after release, and had awful trouble at first, wishing I'd stayed on Win7 at time. Now Win10 is OK, so I'll stick for now, but consider later :)
 
If you're on 7, you definitely need to upgrade because Microsoft has stopped releasing patches so it's a security vulnerability.

If you're on 8 or 8.1, you've got another year before you'll need to upgrade in 2023.

Does your hardware meet the minimum requirements or the recommended spec? Don't upgrade if you just have the minimum, or it will run slower than treacle on a cold winter's day.

I wouldn't upgrade just to trial it - your laptop will never be the same if you decide to roll back.

Assuming that you are asking me, then it s a relatively new but low end device - Levona. It is running W10 from new. I had previously checked that it does comply with the minimum requirements, and they have sent me an “invitation” to UG via the automated update system
 
I'm on W10 on a new laptop and have been offered W11.

I'm avoiding it for as long as I can!
 
It could be the same story as it was with Win 7 and Win 8... I think we should stay at win 10 before Microsoft will deploy some stable version of new Windows.
 
After the fiasco of Windows 8 and to a lesser extent 8.1, I stuck with Windows 7 until the very last moment. I only upgraded (to Win10) when support for Win7 ceased. By that time, Windows 10 had been out for the best part of five years, and (most of) the bugs had been eliminated. I will be sticking with Win10 until 2025! In the days of Windows 2000 & XP, we used to say don't install it until Service Pack 1 is released (and SP2 is on its way), and that mantra still exists.
 
I'd give it a year at least for them to iron all the bugs out..

I said exactly the same -- good way of thinking about it regarding the Service Packs. I still say Windows XP SP2 is one of the best operating systems out there even today, and I still use it now. That and Mac OS 9.2.2.
