Hi all.

Hoping someone can offer advice on what type of tradesman I need to fix this.

We have an arched landing window, but over time the internal casing has started to come loose and flake away. The recent weather has made this worse and theres a small leak somewhere that causing the casing to become wet hence the issue. Obviously I will need to identify where the water is coming in from, but my question is would I need a joiner to help fix the issue or would it be better to get a window specialist in?

Ive uploaded a few pics of the problem.

A window specialist or maybe even a builder, first things to check before you start paying out money is the state of the silicone seal around the top and even the state of the pointing, gaps or cracks could be letting in driving rain, failing that you may need to look further up even missing roof tiles and perished roofing felt

Thanks for the reply. Render does have a few cracks on the outside so will get that looked at aswell. Hoping that bit isnt too much of a job. Internal casing will definately need a full replacement tho looking at it.

is the casing timber or plaster?it looks like timber,so a good chippy should be able to sort this, but once removed MAY uncover other problems that are hidden.

Its timber. Seems like a very thin plywood has been used to make an arch to box it in. I decided to poke something through it to see if there was any resistance, but just seems very hollow. It needs to come off as it looks a mess and like you said will prob reveal greater detail into where the leak is coming from.
