wireless, or not??

Hi all,

Im looking at installing an alarm in my house, and dont rally want to rip everything up to do so, so:

Are wireless alarms reliable I know a few people with them, and its so far a 50/50 split to those who have had problems, and those who havent.

I wouldnt be having PIRs, as I have a cat (unless you can get cat resistant ones) so it would be contacts on all the windows/doors etc, possible smoke alarms at a later date if they exist.

any help greatly appreciated.

saxondale you have your opinion we have ours.

every company comes out with a wireless alarm they all go the same way, ok not always strait away, but they all go wrong.

no point asking you the same question then ? but thats a bold statement you got anything to back it up ? the alarm world has moved on in recent years do you think I would have changed my mind after 20 odd years if it was all as bad as the old gear?

like I said O/P " check out the risco/gardtec stuff its good "
 
guardtec anything is cheap, sorry thats a fact.

Scantronic brought out one only a few year back, (scantronic can make a panel, ok so they goofed with the mosaic, but i am here to deffend no one) so you would have thought scantronic it must be good, well you can think it but thats as far as it goes, they "fall down" too much

scantronic lost the plot years ago thats why we stopped using them but there again weve still got a few 500r working, (but thats an aside) GARDTEC might seem cheap if you dont know it but its lasted the test of time better than any of the others.point seems to be your saying its no good without trying it - bit blinkered

cool you`ll have seen some changes over that time - all I`m saying is try looking at the new generation without thinking of the old tat - we wouldnt be recommending or using it if was still the same.
 
One of my friends son is looking at a house to buy. It has a new alarm system (less than a year old ) but if he buys the house his insurance company say he will have 2 months to replace the alarm or face loaded premiums. They are not interested in the make or type of the existing alarm, they have rejected it only because it is a wireless system.

they have rejected it because it wasnt installed and maintained by an approved company - no other reason
