That is a bold statement.

I am told it was installed and is on maintainance by a company approved by the seller's insurance company.
 
can't the buyer just use the same insurance company as the seller?!

though IMO unless it is making a huge difference to premiums having an insurance company approved alarm is a suckers game. Are the maintinance contract costs and the fact that it gives them another way to deny your claim really worth the savings in insurance premium?
