Hi - am just trying to wire a new plug to my power lead for the laptop. The old plug was moulded on so I had to cut it off so cannot see which wires went to Earth Live and Neutral. The wires are not the colours of the UK cables so don't know which to attach. Can anybody help? The wires are coloured, yellow, blue and green. Thanks

I've never heard of any country which uses yellow, blue, and green, either today or in the past, so it sounds as though it's either a very obscure system or non-standard.

Is there enough of a tail left on the plug you cut off that you could strip the wires sufficiently to check for continuity to the plug pins to identify them?

What kind of connector does this laptop use?
Are you sure it's a mains cable you've cut and you haven't cut off some kind of power adaptor?
As always pictures would be very helpfull.

as all the laptops I have seen have a removable lead with either figure 8 or clover leaf connector on the end, I would suggest simply buying a new lead.

what happened to the moulded plug that required removal?
