Wobbly holes

I've re-tiled a decorative hearth and ned to put the fire place back onto the wall, problem is, it's about a centimete higher than before. I tried drilling new holes but they're so crumbly, anchor bolts won't go in straight and won't grip. I tried little sticks, holes are too baggy.

What can I use to fill right to the back of the old holes and then re-drill new holes in the right place? Can resin do this? Best type? Should I even be using anchor bolts?!

Blow out dust
Inject
Push threaded bolt in


Any will do but make sure it will fit standard mastic gun.

Thanks Wayners, I'd happened across that stuff, but couldn't work out the order/timing... So maybe a daft question, but just a bolt through the fireplace into the resin and hold it til it sets? No rawl plug or anything else needed?

That's right.

Though there isn't a reason why you couldn't insert a Rawl plug let the resiin dry and then screw it in

You can get resin plugs that's do what you ask.
Problem is resin is like steel when set. Any where you don't want it you may struggle to get screw in plug.
