Woodworm treatment

Hi All,

Went in the loft today to have a bit of a tidy up and found some dust on things that looked like wood dust, looked around and found some woodworm holes in quite a few of the roofing timbers. House was built around 1970. I would say there are 10-30 holes per timber.

I had a look on here for woodworm threads. There are quite a few and a lot of old ones so wondered if things had changed/moved on. My questions:

1. Should I treat it?
2. Can I do it DIY? If so what should I use, would prefer to brush than spray
3. Should I treat/get treated just the roof timbers or does the boarding and insulation need to come out and do the timbers below too?
4. Is there a best time to do it/get it done?
5. We have a couple of dogs, does that affect what we do?

I've done it myself.

Bought online.
I used a £10 pump garden sprayer and treated all the old timber.
Chipboard or other wood is fine as full of glues.

Yeah. Do everything that's 1970s so you may need to lift flooring

What chemical did you use?
 
Can't remember and was ordered through wife so I can't lookup. Was off Amazon but Screwfix ect sell.

Disposable overalls and proper recommended mask.
Spray and get out..
Easy job
