Word .docx files not opening on iPad

For about the last ten days I have been unable to open Word documents on my iPad which arrive as attachments in Outlook. This has never been an issue before and none of the 'fixes' I've Googled work! Any ideas anyone?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Word app on your iPad?

Can you open .docx files outside of Outlook, by selecting a document from the file browser?

Thanks rossj81 - the answers are 'No' and 'Yes' ....

I'll have a go at uninstalling/reinstalling Word later when I have five minutes.

Much appreciated rossj81 - I uninstalled Word and when I reinstalled it I also got a prompt for an update to Outlook. All working normally again now!
