Workbench worktop

Provided you accept it will be very susceptible to any damage. I layed 6mm plywood over the tatty workbench that I inherited in this house.

Would this work or would I need to think of something else, with your help most likely.

It's foil, hardly much thicker than kitchen cooking foil, so a waste of money for a workbench. You need either 2mm sheet steel, or alloy sheet, depending on the usage. My workshop workbenches, are heavy-duty kitchen worktops, which I find adequate, but supplemented by sacrificial bits of sheet timber materials.

I knew it wouldn’t be think, but thin as kitchen foil…

My original idea was to reuse old cans, cut them down to say 4”x6” then glue it down to the bench top… I might try this idea on some scrap osb I have.

What are your views and advice so I can get a metallic finish worktop?
