Would a flue extension work on my boiler?

When I had my boiler serviced I was told it failed as the flue outlet is too close to my conservatory. Is it easy enough to get a flue extension attached to the wall, and then out away from the guttering/roof? - gutter sticks out from wall about 20 cms.

The outlet is about 40+ cms from the window, and I need to block up the vent under it.

Either that, or I need to remove or move over the conservatory. - Ideally, I want a flue extension if possible.

It's too close to the air vent below it as well. Can you post a photo of the boiler and flue from inside?

A plume management kit is probably your only option there.

Actually, looking again you could also get it changed for a vertical flue kit and go out through the roof. Easy enough to do either way, but neither option is a DIY job

What do you mean “it failed”?.

clearance required to vent below and internal corner is 300m.

Some boilers allow 25mm to gutters and normally 75mm, you have to be careful with vents or other points of ingress on soffit boards.

I seriously suspect a plume management kit will jot be available for that boiler

Look at section 4 on this - you are being had, either from inexperience or to generate further work. Even if a clearance is wrong, apart from ventilators, we would class as Not To Current Standards, and fo nothing more than make a note:

The gas engineer thought it needed to be 300 mm from the conservatory - I don't know if he considered my conservatory (which is a lean to conservatory, similar in build to a greenhouse) to be like a window, which would need 300 mm. The conservatory door is more than 300 mm away from the outlet.

He did say it's "not to current standards", saying the clearance isn't enough. The report says - Flue too close to conservatory - boiler isolated - plume management needed.

hopefully you can just turn boiler back on and he hasnt capped it

Even if the conservatory counted as a window , assuming it is not openable, the clearance would be 150mm, not 300.

If he classed it a NTCS, he should just have isolated the boiler - at most made a note if it.

As per 112 - when you say isolated, do you mean capped off or just turned off?

If he capped it,he is well out of line, and you would be within your rights to have him reinstate free of charge.

Did he quote for the PMK? I don’t think one will be available for it , but could be wrong. Either way , it does not need it.

Ask him to reinstate or you will refer to Gas Safe. If he argues, ask him to show you exactly where he is getting his info. I assume he IS Gas Safe Registered in his own right?
