One of my hobbies are writing a blog, and one that I like is to write a blog about home improvement. Why? Because everything in the home improvement concerns the problems in daily life, especially the development and maintenance of the house. Is there the same hobby with me?

I had a blog before but now I'm not that active anymore. Blogging is nice because you can express anything you want and get some sort of income from your advertisers.

This remind me that it has been a long time that I haven’t update my blog. I used like to write about movies and books. I wrote it for myself and have not told my friends I have a blog thus had few visitors . :notworthy:

I haven't updated my blog for a long time due to work reason but to be honest blogging gave me a lot. It reminds you to make reflections and makes you a better person.

I have a technical blog for the software I now support, about 7 watchers too lol
Googling will show it above the software companies own one, even though I have not posted on it in 12 months.

t's sometimes useful to be able to say the things that have to have the T's crossed & i's dotted at work, I can be more me on it.

I think I could use a blog... Could anyone enlighten me?

I'm a Teaching Assistant - volunteer. As such it would be useful to be able to communicate with the kids in a way which is
1) closed to the general public
2) Open to other teachers, the other kids in the group, and parents.
They could all share a common password, but if it got out it could be a snag, so maybe each user's could be something like the school's postcode plus the first three letters of their username, or something.

The idea would be that I can publish notes on the materials they have, and they can ask questions. Everyone should see the Q's and A's.
I'd need to be able to post pictures. If I could use it to host other types of data file, so much the better - ?

Highly Desirable but not mandatory - would be that there would be NO MEANS to start a private communication between any of the users of the blog.

People would have to be invited, or request access with a username but that should not be their real name or show their email address.

I assume a kid could log in using their parents' email address, (without having access to all their parents' emails!)

I've got a stack of other things to learn about, so I don't want a big learning curve.

The school may have their own facilities, but I want something not dependent on the school, for other students.

Possible?

The above is the minimum I'd want it to be able to do. Tiered access would be great but probably too complicated.

Mattylad, could I have a look at your blog?

Maybe I could set up Goole Drive or something to do a similar function, I don't know much about it yet.

You dont want to look at mine, it's pants.
Look at blogs on the net, there must be loads written by people in similar situations as you.

As for the privacy, mine is open to the public (not that they visit it) but if you want multi0ple access rigths with passwords then you'd need something more than blogspot can offer I think.

Given what your talking about (students) then you need to step very carefully (as I'm sure you know).

BTW Chris, do you by chance play SE2 on the xbox360?

Yes. I'll take advice from the school when I can speak to the right people - they're all off on their tropical cruises still.
My thinking is that if it's anonymous and open, then there shouldn't be much fear.
We do seem to have developed a culture of paranoia now though. It's a bit of a worry tbh.
Sure, if kids never communicate with anyone or go out of the house then it's only the family which will abuse them. Maybe they'll ban school because it's too dangerous. Bit of an ISIS mentality growing...

I think all I need is a very "lite" blog with very few facilities.
I daresay if I spend several hours reading I'll find out what someone could have told me in a paragraph!

SE2? Xbox? Sounds like a game of some sort?
Sorry I don't "get" games. Never quite saw the point!

Have set up a blog now in google Blogger.
God their instructions are awful. A bloke must have written them. Women are much better at it.

Anyway it works, you can limit access to people who are invited , but they do have to have a google account. Most people have one with their phone now I think.
You can upload pictures, but nothing else like pdf files, say. Anyone know if Wordpress allows that sort of thing?

Will have a go with Drive to see if I can find a way to accept homework and deposit it back, per child.

There are better blog hosting sites ;)

The reason I asked is that I know a chris on the xbox who is also in the teaching profession and he's on London lol

Good luck with the blog

Such as??:?:
One where people don't have to have a goole account would be good.
Are there any where you can post files like pdf's?

Bamidele is a brilliant blogger - the more so because English is not his native tongue. Not only does he make a LOT of money from writing - he also teaches others how to do it.

You can follow in his footsteps by starting your own blog.

Disclaimer: I have no connection with Bamidele except as a reader of his emails and blog enties.

The Google Blogger blog didn't stay working long. 3 days, only me commenting, and I'm getting Error 403 invalid Token messages. On their help forum it seems it's common, some sort of denial of service reaction from google.

Will have to try Wordpress I suppose.

I think what you need is a PHPBB forum. You'll have to pay about £25 a year for hosting but there are many compensations.
Try www.betterwebspace.com
If you buy your domain name and hosting there, you get forum software and unlimited email accounts thrown in for free.
