Zion and the Art of Armageddon

It seems a Palestinian Israeli, one of Filly's happy ones stabbed 2 IDF seriously. One managed to shoot him. His family has been locked up and house demolished.

More of a rumour? Israeli security thinks that actions in Gaza and the West Bank are no longer tenable. Lebanon mentioned but sounded more they'll stop if there is a ceasefire. Murmurs they they will not get rid of Hamas. That's not new really, usually you can't kill an idea but they are clearly having problems wiping out those that fight. Maybe repeat heavier actions with troops in various places will fix this eventually.

It also seems that Israel is allowing a Palestinian company to reconnect electricity to a central desalination plant. Using Hamas! An Israeli pundits sees this in a odd way. It indicates that at some point they will negotiate with Hamas. First step in a process to get the public to accept this. Big PASS from me.

Israel has approved the largest seizure of land in the occupied West Bank in more than three decades, according to a report released by an Israeli anti-settlement watchdog, a move that will exacerbate the escalating tensions surrounding the conflict in Gaza. Peace Now said authorities recently approved the appropriation of 12.7 sq km (nearly 5 sq miles) of land in the Jordan valley, indicating it was “the largest single appropriation approved since the 1993 Oslo accords”, referring to the start of the peace process. Settlement monitors say the recent land acquisition links Israeli settlements along a crucial corridor adjacent to Jordan, a development they say threatens the formation of a future Palestinian state.

While Netanyahu 'consider's the latest peace proposal from Hamas, his minions are keeping busy taking even more land from the Palestinians. Hamas are facing growing unrest from the people of Gaza who're close to breaking point: gangs are settling scores in the camps as food and water become more scarce.

I believe the US are bringing pressure to bear on them over this.

Actually Israel is intending to add 5 new large settlements. There is also a lot of fast tracked general building probably expansions. And slung the PLA out of one of their areas that contains a lot of Palestinians.

But Benjamin et al still making the same noises. This is likely to prevent any deal.

HAMAS critisism from Gazans. The one I heard was keeping hostages in highly populated areas. But as has been mentioned civilisation has virtually broken down - as would be expected.

According to Al Jazeera the latest peace proposal could lead to a framework agreement and an end to the war between Israel and Hamas - if it’s embraced by Israel. Hamas has reportedly dropped its demand that Israel commit to a permanent ceasefire before it signs the deal, and would now allow negotiations throughout the six-week first phase to achieve a permanent end to fighting, a Hamas official told Reuters.

They said "we'll think on it..."

With a partial hostage release when the 6 weeks start ??? Pass but I suspect HAMAS would go with that.

Netanyahu is due to fly to Washington and i reckon Biden will insist on a structure for the ceasefire to be implemented before the Democratic Convention at the end of August to take one thing off his plate. He can tell the Zionist war criminal his weapon shipments can be stalled until he agrees. Hamas badly need this ceasefire and will be much more malleable to a settlement before the people of Gaza lose thir patience.

One view of all of the peace talks is that they sound like they will achieve something yet they also allow things to just continue with some hope of an end that in practice never happens.

The news coming out of Gaza has generally been fairly consistent. Limited strikes all over the place. This sounds like Benjamin's final phase. A report of heavy IDF fighting. May be similar to El Shifa - a major 2nd strike due to so called regrouping. More recently orders for Gazans to move out of an area. Seems to be Khan Yunis related - 2nd strike again?

Little mention of Rafar other than loads of Gazans have moved out. Gazans do seem to be more prepared to move these days.

So Benjamin is working to plan. The US could have stepped in at any point. There is also the long standing security council aspects.

LOL So I wonder what is really going on. Are you surprised?

Since the proposal is coming from Hamas that seems like a sensible assumption.

It's if Israel will accept it, which they probably will, then kick off again after the six weeks. Israel is in for the long run.

The Israeli army ordered the Hannibal Directive – a controversial Israeli military policy aimed at preventing the capture of Israeli soldiers by enemy forces at any cost – on October 7 last year, an investigation by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz has revealed. In a report on Sunday, the newspaper, based on testimonies of Israeli soldiers and senior army officers, said that during Hamas’s unprecedented attack last October, the Israeli army started making decisions with limited and unverified information, and issued an order that “not a single vehicle can return to Gaza”.

Al Jazeera.com

The Hannibal Directive, not named after cinema's favourite psychopath, nor the Carthaginian General, is also known as the Hannibal Procedure or Hannibal Protocol, an Israeli military policy that stipulates the use of maximum force in the event of a soldier being kidnapped, Although the number of civilians taken during the raid was unknown they must've known an all-out response would result in their death; further evidence of how little Natanyahu cares for his own people. The end justifies the means...to what end remains uncertain. Although Hamas have accepted a ceasefire proposal, while the Butcher of Beirut remains adamant that Israel will carry on their murderous onslaught in Gaza any deal is highly unlikely.

Latest - Gazans being told to move out of Gaza city, central. They are on their way,

Forgot Hamas want a mediator to ensure talks continue.
