Advice for bathroom walls Aquapanel vs Elements board

So I'm renovating the bathroom in my new house and I bought some water resistant boards (Knauf aquapanel) for the splash heavy areas like the shower, but online I have been seeing a lot of people using the Abacus Elements foam waterproof tiling boards. Which is better? does anyone have...

Why does 1800 bath actually measure 1790

Is it to allow fitting in an 1800 recess/alcove with 5mm tolerance at each end? I'm putting a bath alcove together (stud/Aquapanel) and was wondering anyway, what gap to set at the ends between bath & Aquapanels (panels to drop 10mm below rim). The bath showed up 10mm shorter than expected...

Clearance for electrical and plumbing? Is this idea workable?

Some more stupid questions. I'm thinking about different ideas for a bathroom remodel and I want to swap the taps to the other end of the bath and mount them and the shower on the wall. My idea is to box in the area from the top of the bath to the ceiling to put the plumbing in, because the...

    How sturdy are acrylic baths?

How sturdy are modern acrylic baths, generally? I'm planning a bathroom revamp and I need a shorter bath to fit in the space, but so far all the ones I've found that will fit are acrylic. I've had acrylic baths before that felt very flimsy and flexed a lot, but do newer and better quality baths...

    Can't adjust thermostatic control

My bath water is lukewarm, so I removed the panel and tried to adjust the preset temperature, but it won't budge when I try and turn it anticlockwise? It will only go clockwise to the cooler side? The valve is a Gummers Bristan MT503

Does bath rim go underneath tilebacker/Aquapanel?

Does aquapanel go above the bath with the bath rim slid underneath it, or does it extend below the rim with the bath pushed up to it (plus sealant)? Asking because existing bath rim is 45mm wide but new bath side rim is 90mm wide, which seems a lot. Thank you.

Is there a generally accepted height to set top of bath rim?

I bought a new bath & screen but without a bath panel, although the panel is listed on the manufacturers website as 550 height, this doesn't say top of bath is 550 off floor, or where this dim comes from.. Manufacturer won't give further info..

Should I glue and screw Aquapanel to stud?

I have a stud going in at each end of a bath and was wondering what thickness Aquapanel on the stud would best? To tile over. What does primer (BAL etc) actually do? Does it go on both sides? And what glue would I use to fix the Aquepanel to the stud (plus screws), would Gorilla be ok? Thank you.

Fixing acrylic bath - enclosed 3 sides (1 masonry, 2 stud)

The 4 supplied fixing brackets are quite minimal; fixed to the wall, with silicon bonding bath to bracket. There are 3 strengthening blocks moulded in to the underside of the rim (plus 1 in each corner) connecting the downstanding rim to the top of the bath sides. Are they just for...

Bath drain gasket only leaks when bath overflowing, not when draining

Hi I'm really stumped, I thought I had a logical brain, but this is really confusing me, please help me choose the right next steps. My bath drain leaks when water goes down the overflow. The leak looks to be between the grey rubber gasket which clips onto the fibreglass of the bath around...

Wall panels - above 1800x800 bath - ground floor

I haven't used this panelling before, haven't done much tiing either. Shower panels look like the way forward if I can get some for above the bath. Does anyone supply custom panels? (probably not laminate). Thick enough to be rigid. For walls above long side and each end. Approx.160cm tall...

    Bath Leak

Hi all Leak appeared in kitchen ceiling. Pulled back bath cover upstairs and looks like water been getting in for some time. Haven't long lived in property. Floorboards and plaster knackered. Removed all existing sealant and resealed with clear and white sealant to get a thick finish. Still no...

Is it possible to cut bath panels without ruining them?

2100 wall to take 1800 bath/shower. I'm putting studs using bathroom boards at each end to bring the 2100 down to 1800ish (just over), but the stud at the taps end will cover that whole wall to lose the pipework for new sink/toilet also. The face of the tiles infringing on the plan/footprint of...

Toilet bubbling through bath and vice versa

Pretty self explanatory title, but when we flush our toilet it causes the plug in our bath to bubble, and let’s out a bad smell. Vice versa, when we empty the bath the toilet makes a noise. They aren’t even in the same room, as our toilet is separate from the bathroom. We have a plumber...

    Water backing up into bathtub

Hello, I’d be very grateful for some advice on a plumbing issue we’re having. We’ve moved into a second floor flat that we’re renovating. Behind the bathroom wall is a recess within the building. The waste pipe heads through the bathroom wall and joins the building communal waste (I...

    Bathroom light move

A cluster of 3 led lights, it's good because the bathroom gets very little natural light. But it's zonally conflicted in plan, being sited just outside the outer edge of the bath/shower It could do with going between the the next pair of joists but this would require extending the cables...

    Free standing bath

Hello, I don’t really know anything about plumbing so not sure if anything I’m describing makes sense. I’ve just got a new freestanding bath delivered and it’s currently in the bathroom sitting on top of 2 planks of wood waiting to have the waste connected. I’ve got a 40mm compression elbow...
