Hello all!
First time poster:
I have a semi-detached house in a high water table area and I noticed that under the suspended wooden ground floor there was some standing water. I carried out some investigation and it appears that more water flows into the crawl space (approx 4ft high) in when...
Im looking to insulate my shed using celotex and just have a couple of questions in the hope of clearing up some contradictions I have discovered during research.
My shed is pretty heavy duty, constructed out of 3x2 framing and 25mm T&G cladding. Ive read conflicting views about the...
Hi,
First time posting here, I have taken all the plaster off on the external solid 9" walls (1930s house) and now want to insulate and redo them using celotex 37.5mm thick 2.4mx1.2m plasterboards. I have heard many stories about damp and condensation issues caused by internal insulation. Do...
Hi, After some advice / assurance of the method Im'm looking at meets some of the 'best practice' for insulating a single brick wall ensuring (if done correctly) shouldn't be any issues surround damp etc. Any advice would be appreciated or just a "yes sounds fine" or "Nooooo" :D
I propose to...
Having trawled through dozens of similar questions, I imagine regulars here could probably live without another confused post about shed insulation, so my apologies, but…I’m confused.
Shed is a log cabin, 44mm T+G, with a pent roof. Should this work: batten out with 25mm deep timber, then...
I'm looking to insulate my 1950s detached garage. I thought I'd start on the roof by fixing some 100mm Celotex directly on top of the joists.
My main concern is about ventilation / moisture issues, which I have to say I'm not too clued up on. From reading around there seems to be lots of...
I’ve just been informed by my builders merchant that foil board insulation has gone up 15% this month and will be going up again in November!!
Anyone know what’s going on? It seems rediculous that the price should be increasing so much!
What alternative is there for a conversion of a cold...
I know this sounds familiar, but have read the posts and find the info I need, so any advice appreciated.
So from top to bottom I was thinking (for garden studio);
- 225mm x 38mm wooden floor boards
- (maybe VCL or foil tape joins in celotex sheets)
- celotex
- concrete floor
Will the floor...
Here's videos of my efforts and progress so far I've almost completed the whole ground floor now just the remaining of the hallway I can't do till I remove the old stair but I have completed the entire downstairs central heating pipes all now insulated. So my next project now is building the new...
Hi,
Im considering insulating a wall internally as this room gets very cold as soon as the heating is turned off. Its a downstairs living room, and my plan is to insulate the exterior wall. We had insulation blown into the cavity walls within the house, and insulated the suspended floor to...
i have had a beautiful new cabin built, but I am boarding it out myself. The structure is timber and is stuffed to the gunwales with Celotex. The walls have 150mm Celotex panels which leaves a 10-20mm air gap between the front of the Celotex and the front of the studs. I have been advised that...
Hi,
I'm looking at some calculations for a beam. Is it correct that celotex is listed as 0.25kn/m2 ?
Only unsure as it is listing plasterboard and skim at only 0.12kn/m2 and 25mm flooring at 0.13kn/m2
Surely it's not heavier than these two things?
Thanks
We’ve been working to insulate the eaves / void area of my semi detached 1970s dormer. The area won’t be used for storage so I’m insulating the dwarf/stud wall and 1st floor/ground floor ceiling (rather than the rafters).
The wall is foil faced plasterboard on 75mm studs. I understand that the...
Hi,
Recently had a new 16x10 summer house put up. Got power in there already and would like it all clad to keep it warm and dry inside. It's a 70mm thick frame clad with log-lap. I have 50mm thick Celotex sheets. do i have to put any other stuff down first? air gaps? I hear you have to tape...
I am going to replace an old carpet with laminate downstairs. The plan is to put some insulation under the laminate as otherwise the floor will be really cold. I will end up with the following layers:
Laminate 10 or 12mm thick
Celotex TB4025 insulation -- 25mm thick (would love to have more...
Another question regarding my garage conversion. I am struggling with insulation for the roof.
The garage is detached from the house.
I have recently had the flat roof replaced with a EPDM roof. It sits on 150mm rafters. It is a cold deck roof. I was planning on using 100mm celotex in between...
Hi all
I've bought some celotex insulation to put up on the ceiling in my garage but I'm not quite sure on the ventilation. I want to place the whole sheets underneath the joists to seal the roof structure from the garage room. This is a cold roof configuration I understand. I'm not living in...
Further to this post: http://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/adding-a-plug-socket-round-a-corner.467371/
I still intend to DIY extend the ring circuit and add 2 double sockets side by side behind my TV. My plan is to run the cable horizontally from an existing socket. The length is about 50cm from...
hi,
I've been abandoned by my builder and I'm now completing the project on my own.
I have a carport with a bedroom and bathroom above it.
In the ceiling of the carport I have pipes for the bathroom.
Yesterday I installed my celotex fire rated insulation in between the joists of the carport...
Hi All
Just registered so I could post this, any help most appreciated. There seems to be several schools of thought on here and other sites, so I thought I would raise my own specific thread rather than guessing on how to apply to my project.
I've built a single skin block detached garage in...
