Would timber plugs sealed in with resin be a suitable repair for this joist? We could thread the cable through just one hole ...the remaining four would be redundant. Replacing it would be quite complex so we would like to avoid that.
We had our Electrolux combi microwave/fan oven replaced with a brand new one under warranty as our old one was written of due to severe rust, what prevented a previous repair man being unable to get to and replace the heater element what was leaking current to earth and tripping the RCD.

Hello there,

Just noticed I have a leak from my flat roof right in the corner of the room. Need a temp method of repair to stem the ingress of water.
Weather is foggy and damp, it's a north facing garden and I hear a asteroid is about to hit my location.
Putting aside the asteroid disaster for a minute...
The spring has gone on the kitchen door (bog-standard council, cheap) lever handle, but I'm not seeing how to reach the spring to replace it. As you can see from the photo, there's a metal plate inside covering it. It looks welded on and turns with the handle. Does this mean these are...

Hello all!
During lockdown in April we moved into a new house and on day 1 found a gas leak which required a new boiler system. Our options were limited due to full lockdown so we got in touch with the closest boiler installation guy we could find, willing to work during the lockdown.

Here is one of the original tiles.
No idea what it is called in order to obtain a replacement.
However, the idea is to repair one that is broken using a strong adhesive. Any advice on the best adhesive to use would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I had Vinyl flooring fitted in my kitchen in 2015. A few days ago I cooked myself a baked potato in the microwave (as I have done many times before!). However, after ten minutes (2 x 5 minutes) + 2 minutes cooling; the potato was black! Therefore I put the potato in the bin and microwaved...
I am looking to repair the external architrave to my front door. Its my last attempt before ripping out and replacing with a composite (which I would really, rather not do) and im hoping that I can repair, rather than replace the architrave.
I have my wet rott hardner and epoxy exterior wood...
My commercial grade Numatic hoover has stopped working. I checked switch and capacitor and all seems working fine.

I found out that the ceilings on my first floor were renovated but the laths were kept and pins were used instead of screws.

Why the lats...

Hi all,
We have a brick wall in our garden, which kind of supports a walkway above it, but it's in need if some TLC. I think standard pointing will do for the most if it, but there is one bit that I'm not sure if just filling it with mortar is ok.
I've attached a pic of the offending peice of...
Hi DIY-ers,
I want to repair the wooden frame around a badly installed lock. I am happy for the lock to remain, but am not sure how best to fill the badly carved out gaps in the doorframe around it.
See pictures to understand. The largest part is 3cm wide X 2cm deep.
I've thought of cutting...
