2 pir 1 cable (can you loop)

Well one of those cables have a green , so one must be 6 core …..find the cable at the control panel end and see if there’s spare green and white

Hiya

Thanks for taking the time etc to help me with this, but that doesn’t work but trouble I have is these Two PIR are both wired into the wall in seperate rooms but back to back but there’s a bespoke bookcase been built around it, so I can’t confirm if I’m running the 2 wires onto the next one or not.
Going to take it down tomorrow and wire it like you diagram but at the panel and see what that does….

It seems to be a power issue with them not a tamper, I’m getting 0v but there’s a signal on the lines so it’s connected ted to something

Thanks so much for taking the time to guide me on this, have wired as per but trouble I have is both these wires are into the wall one behind a built in kitchen cupboard and the other side a built in bookcase.
So I have no way of being sure I’m running the power onto the next one but using the 4 wires I have at both , the same colours as per your diagram and it didn’t work, I’m going to swap them over and try the other way around but I can’t run an extra wire without pulling things apart and that’s a huge job to remove this, even if I can……….

Will report back

Thanks again

You need to ensure you have the right cable.
Do you have a multimeter or access to one.
Check that the cable goes from control panel to 1st detector, then if this is a 4 core cable check that all cores are not damaged by using meter.
Does the second cable then go from control panel to second detector ?
If so confirm that cable is correct and check all cores.
If you can prove both cables are OK,then wire as picture sent to you.
Also confirm that programming is correct for the zone being used on control panel.
If all the above is correct then post photo of each detector wired, and how these cables are connected to panel.

Yes I do and I’m looking for resistance or voltage? Here?

I’m pretty sure when they wired this section up we had an issue where the PIR in the kitchen was left in the corner, kitchen fitters built the cabinets and when the alarm people came they couldn’t get to it, so they spured off the one in the next room which is right behind it.
Would they have used the OLD PIR for anything or left it redundant?
Or use as like a junction box?

Taken some new photos, so you can see what I mean and small diagram, thanks again pal,

This one does feel above my pay grade but I’m learning all the time……

Right pics of this HASH up

See if you have any clues?

So they are behind each other but hardly accessible and have this link of wiring with the old PIR I have just found….

Be good if I could speak to the installer but as I mentioned earlier, he’s passed away…..

Did the installer ride a horse ?
Any way how many cables in the one they have spurred off from ? And what are they ? 6 core ? 4 core ?

The problem you have is proving the cable and the joints are poor.
What about fitting wireless expander unit and fit wireless PIR'S in new positions.
Looking at the the old PIR'S they need replacing anyway.

Think he had a mask and the horses name was Tonto

What Acessable is 4 cables at both PIRs
red
Black
Yellow
blue

back at the panel however, there is 8.
so I’m guessing they cut off the remaining ones at the PIR
they we’re wired with only using the 4 above originally.

Have

Black
read
yellow
Blue
Green
White
Orange
brown

all the others are all using juts the 4 as mentioned above

The thought has gone through my head as well as we have 7 wireless ones as well and they were A dream to instal.

Maybe that’s the best idea, as this set up seems a right hash job

They are brand new but the one in the corner is an old one but looks like they used as a junction box

wasted so much time on this, maybe ditch them and get 2 wireless and take all that out the equation. see if ScanTronic will let me swap over…

didn’t think this would be that much agro TBH

many thanks lads

gonna try the PIR set up other way around and then bail if no good

That’s where your problem may be !
