A cracked plug socket which I use a lot for fan-heater.

I can see exactly what’s happened here, that socket does indeed look new- albeit a cheap brand.
The plug could not have been changed as when plugged into the new socket, still created a poor connection due to previous heat damage and thus caused it and the socket to overheat again. You can see above the live pin a brown mark from the plugs fuse which was hot.

A new good quality plug and socket would of prevented this.

Is the Socket discoloured/burnt on the Left Live Pin Hole? To the Left of the 'V' Symbol. Might be a shadow or reflection on the Pic.
What does the Fan Heater Plug look like? Any pitting, marks or discolouration on the Live Pin?

Is this not heat damage?

[

In just the right place for this discoloured mark.

So i was right it is heat damage. Does that suggest that the socket is functioning ok but the fan heater and it's plug are dodgy?

Both the socket and the plug now need replacing...

On my screen I don't see the discolouration on the socket hence my previous comments.
As others have already commented the plug is heat damaged, it seems to be the fuse holder.

I don't believe the plugs heat damage is capable of damaging the socket, yes it may scorch it but I don't see any way it can be blamed for the crack. I still say that is the result of impact or incorrect plug insertion (using force) or yanking on the cable/tripping on it.

Yes both the damaged socket and the faulty plug need replacing.
