Some confusion over the presence of EDL members in Southport, since the organisation was broken when Tommy Robinson was sanctioned for formenting racism but apparently his minions still call themselves the EDL - due to a lack of imagination, probably. A few groups still exist abroad, notably in the Netherlands, where the far-right still enjoy rabid support, led by van Wilders.
Angela Raynor has suggested they be added to the list of terrorist organisations, but they're more like rebels without a clue, as they showed in Southport and Sunderland, by turning up without really knowing why, just ready to kick down a few walls for ammo and hurl racist abuse at Moslems who had nothing to do with the terrible events that led to three innocent lives, taken brutally in broad daylight.
Faarage has expressed a concern about the break down of law and order in society and, leaving aside the Tories lack of funding for police, he fails to acknowledge he's a part of the problem by taking to social media where he can insinuate a fork-tongued response, implicating Moslems are responsible for this civil breakdown while candidly ignoring the fact his words incite the riots in the first place. Not only does he deny this incitement but emphasises the words by repeating them, ad nauseam, wherever a microphone happens to be placed for his foghorn to acquire a wider audience than it deserves.
Now he goes on to imply it could "get worse in the next few weeks", and refuses to condemn the actions of the rioters and even claiming "...the far-right are a reaction to fear, to discomfort, to unease that is out there shared by tens of millions of people.” He wants to revive a broad 'suss' policy to include stopping people of any colour, and tougher sentences for "anybody carrying a knife"...
...i hope that includes those 'good people on both sides' who plan an upcoming pro-UK rally in Glasgow promoted by Tommy Robinson and the members of Stand Up to Racism also announced a counterprotest to be held in Glasgow’s George Square at the same time. Scottish police will have their hands full as Independence campaigners will be hosting a march in Edinburgh on the same day September 7th.
