AC DC Adaptor fail

Mission accomplished. Restored the 027 battery to max CCA. I varied the amperage from 35mA to 45mA, with voltage constant at 32.44v. 45mA produced enough bubbles for me to not like. But the slightly over-powered charging could be a necessary evil.

Battery state after resting for 2 days:
12.86V stand alone
3.99 m-Ohm internal resistance
100% wear life
650 CCA, Spec: 600 CCA, type 027

What remains unaccomplished is to charge the battery to 16v. It's a mystery how the 23v max, 6w max china solar panel did it. I believe 16v is beneficial even though I can restore batteries without getting to that voltage level.

Time for another battery revival. Reduced sunlight meant that a 4.5w up to 23v non-optimally placed solar panel was not able to sustain the battery at this time of the year. The car sat undriven for 3-6 months.

Battery state
10.17v stand alone
72.84 m-Ohm internal resistance
1% wear life
35 CCA - runs a micra alarm system and locks, but unable to start engine
Spec: Lion 063 40Ah EN 340CCA, very old

Charger configuration
26mA effective charge current
1.5w mains draw
32.5v open circuit
36mA open circuit

It looks like DNJ has discovered ( or maybe even invented ) wireless electricity ( electrickery )
Things have changed since you were a school boy. Nowadays, people can do almost magical stuff with china gear. Here's a slightly similar unit to the charger I am using. Mine is shown in the earlier part of the thread.

Jesus wept.

I only read two pages of this thread. I feel like I have been (temporarily) possessed by someone that walks the streets in their slippers and shouts at pigeons/small children/windmills/etc.

The charging slowed to a steady crawl. This is expected given the low charging current. At 20mA, there is no gassing/bubbling, and this is desirable because sealed batteries can't be topped up with water. Also, I don't need to use the battery. Therefore slow charging isn't a problem. I will take weekly reading instead. Given the low stand-alone voltage, there's plenty of capacity remaining for the battery to accept charging.
