Blue brick curved wall

Looking good now 23vc. Difficult bricks to lay. That's why in the old days with bricks like Accringtons and Southwaters they used really tight lime putty joints, so the bricks didn't sink as the wall went up. Once you see the mortar oozing out of the joints you've got problems.

Yep agree. I dread cutting the excess off. Did manage to sponge them down though which seemed to help a fair bit.

Finally done a bit more on it, complete with “noseall style” flat solid bricks on top. Fairly happy with it, jointed it a bit too early but wanted to finish before the footy. Thanks for the advice as ever

If you're bothered about smearing on the bricks, give it a day or two then jetwash it with a wide fan and a reasonable distance; it'll clean up the faces without blasting the beds/perps out

Not overly bothered, todays example is probably the least I’ve smudged blue bricks in my life (y)

Never seen a wall finished like that before, looks weird and unfinished, the normal way is brick on edge.

, the normal way is brick on edge.
Nonsense. It's the reason solids were invented....

Final pics as it’s all done. Very happy with how it’s turned out. Thanks for all the advice, the takeaways are don’t go near mortar dye and do it in nice weather. Got another one to do the other side but will be more enjoyable as it’s a straight one (y)
