The scribed piece sitting on top of the non scribed is classic.
You have to scribe it thin at the top and then gently sand it to very thin, so it will be (almost) levelled.
Half a mm is not noticeable when looking at it from standing position.
Also, a good variety of files help with different profiles (curved, tight angles, etc.)
Remember, always look at woodwork from a normal eye level.
Because of the nature of wood, looking at it from a distance of 2 inches will always result in seeing some imperfections.
