Hi All,

I’m currently having a new kitchen installed and noticed quite a few chips in the worktop and in the bottom of the kitchen cabinets.

I flagged this up to the builder who tells me he’ll fix it but he has just painted over the chips.

Am I being too pedantic in asking for these to be changed?

Not acceptable. That's what you might expect from a poor DIY job (not mine). You pay pros for a perfect job. Tell them to take it out and replace. No argument. It is 100% NOT acceptable. DO NOT PAY (hopefully you haven't).

There is no excuse whatsoever for that standard of laminate finishing, or chips to doors and units. The guy is obviously not a true kitchen fitter.

That's poor workmanship and even the way the paint has been applied is rough.

I would expect those to be changed.

Salmonella strips are a rubbish bodge for those without the tools to do it properly. If that was router cut he cut it in the wrong direction, if he used a circular saw or jigsaw on a visible then he's no kitchen fitter.

I've used circular saw and table saw on straight cuts, but my blades are good ones and don't chip anything.
This "kitchen fitter" must have beavers chewing his cuts...

It seriously depresses me seeing the standards of work done by some so called pros ....was this another internet find with more stars than in the heavens?

Thank you all for your comments and support.

I had a very firm word with the fitter and he is changing it all.

I will keep you updated with the finished result - let’s see what happens.
